Mike Stefonik, President

Mike has over ten years experience in the talent development and has spent that time in various roles ranging from facilitation to managing training and is currently an instructional designer with Sentry Insurance.
While Mike has a background in technical and operational training and instructional design, he gets most excited about creating learning solutions and strategies that build the essential people skills that relate to success. As a member of ATD, Mike has grown his training skills and connections in the area and wants to give others the kind of experience he has had as part of the training community in the Madison area.
Mike is an endurance sports enthusiast and when he is not training for work he is training for his next race.
Kasey Dougan, President Elect
Kasey has been in training and instructional design since 2014. She has a passion for designing e-learning and instructor-led training materials which are interactive, learner-centered, and gives her opportunities to flex her graphic design skills. She recently achieved ATD’s CPTD certification in February of 2022 and is ready for her next talent development adventure!

Steve Klubertanz, VP Finance
Steve has over twenty years experience in training, education, and change management, with specialties in both technical and professional development. With a Bachelor of Science in Business Education, he has had roles in customer and technical support, senior training specialist, senior change management specialist, and manager of talent development. Steve has also served as a consultant for numerous corporate clients, providing project management and learning solutions. In addition, he has presented at several regional and national conferences on organizational change management, including methodology and best practices.
Steve spent 18 years at TDS until recently retiring, but teaching and learning is still his passion. Serving on the ATD-MAC Board is his way of giving back to the training community.
Chelsey O'Connor, VP Marketing

Chelsey brings over 15 years of experience in training, development & content design, extensive operations background working throughout organizations to build and implement systems, policies, and procedures to optimize resources, and maximize productivity. Chelsey is currently with Exact Sciences and is part of the Service Management group under the HR Operations & Technology team, where she will be responsible for several initiatives within this team starting with the formation of an HR Process Library. Chelsey supports the rest of the HR function, helping to establish procedure standards and strategy, and provides ad hoc project management support to extended HR Ops & Tech team members.
Chelsey currently resides in Madison Wisconsin, with her husband, son, and dog Jules. In Chelsey’s spare time she enjoys all the things that Madison and the great outdoors have to offer. Taking in the Madison music scene, art, all the delicious food, festivals, and enjoying time by or on the water. Chelsey is a big fan of the outdoors and enjoys hiking, biking, and has recently taken an interest in mountain biking, downhill skiing, enjoys yoga, and is a certified yoga instructor assisting in helping her remain grounded as a busy mother. Chelsey enjoys being an active member in ATD-MAC. She enjoys volunteering her time and will be assuming the role of VP of Marketing this year. Along with all these interests Chelsey also has a passion for learning and developing both personally and professionally, always reading, learning, and developing.
Marti Fechner, VP Membership

Marti attended Marquette University, obtaining a degree in Interpersonal Communications in Business and a Spanish minor. She worked in teaching roles throughout her varied career - first training hundreds of staff with a fast-growing computer software/video game company; then guiding leadership development, customer service, and communication skills at TDS Telecom; followed by running her own Spanish teaching business for 15 years; and since 2020, building and leading the training department at the Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association.
In 2009, WISC-TV3 honored Marti as a Top-Notch Teacher. She is passionate about fostering a growth mindset, building teams that value diversity, equity, and inclusion, and advocating for professional development. She loves creating that lightbulb moment when a difficult concept becomes clear, or when people shift their way of thinking to try something new. Above all, she is a relationship builder, and a person who cares deeply about making this world a better place.
Sara Siekierski, Co-VP Professional Development
Sara Siekierski is a devoted, high-impact transformational leader with a passion for developing people and strengthening culture. Using her unique background in communications, training, and leadership, she’s built a strong career in organizational development spanning several different industries. Throughout the last 11 years in her organizational and people development career, Sara has taken on several different roles and moved into various leadership positions.
Sara is the Senior Talent Development Programs Manager at Unanet, a CRM and ERP software company based out of Dulles, VA. In her role, Sara is responsible for the entire talent development function for the organization, focused on onboarding, skill and career development, and leadership development. One of Sara’s proudest career moments thus far is having her Aspiring Leaders Program, which she created while at WPS Health Solutions, featured in Gartner and Harvard Business Review. Sara is a proud alumna of UW-Whitewater, where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism and Speech, a Master's Degree in Communication, and a Graduate Certificate in Human Resource Management.
Hailey Wright, Co-VP Professional Development
Hailey has been in learning for the past ten years. From teaching middle and high school to technical training, organizational development, and training management, she has been involved in every step of the learning process. Her passion is in finding and providing authentic opportunities to learn in community and grow as individuals.
Hailey holds a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary English Education from UW-Stevens Point and has developed and facilitated thousands of hours of training to audiences of all ages and backgrounds, loving every human connection she made along the way. She loves going to thrift stores, concerts, and national parks.
Claire Stathas, VP Technology
Claire is a Principal Trainer at Exact Sciences where she supports software training for clinical laboratory and customer care center staff. She is certified in Epic Beaker Curriculum, Identity, and Training Environment Build. Prior to working for Exact Sciences, she taught English as a Second Language at the high school and university-level. Claire has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Master of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from Arizona State University.
