Presentation Description

Mark Twain once observed, “A lie can get halfway around the world before the truth can even get its boots on.” His observation rings true even more today. Urban legends, bogus public health scares, and conspiracy theories circulate effortlessly. Meanwhile, people with important ideas – businesspeople, journalists, and, yes, trainers – struggle to make their ideas “stick.”

A sticky idea is an idea that’s understood, that’s remembered, and that changes someone’s behavior, opinion, values, etc. Every day you’re training, you’re on the front line of stickiness. You have to get your ideas to stick with your audience. But very few of our teams are giddy with anticipation to learn more about policies, regulations and other mandatory training topics.

Drawing from the book “Made to Stick” by brothers Chip and Dan Heath, we’ll discover that sticky messages draw their power from the same six traits. We’ll dissect the anatomy of ideas that stick and we’ll explore ways to make our messages stick with our audiences longer. Together we’ll investigate the “Velcro Theory of Memory” and creating “curiosity gaps.” Get ready to roll up your sleeves and get sticky together!
