Jacob Burris, Past President

I’ve been in the training space for over a decade, working with clients nationally and internationally, and facilitating to diverse business groups.  My training career began facilitating presentations skills to sales teams and grew from there.  My areas of expertise now include onboarding, customer service, sales, leadership, virtual training and e-Learning design.  I have a graduate degree in Education and an Instructional Design certificate from UW – Stout.  I believe when we’re through learning, we’re through, and so I’m committed to lifelong learning and adult education.

As an active member of ATD in the past, I’ve enjoyed the programs and social events offered by the organization.  I’m pleased to join the ATD Board in 2015 and look forward to contributing to our local chapter’s success.

Kenn Kosowicz, VP Administration

As a life-long Milwaukee resident, my career in training naturally led me to involvement in the Southeast Wisconsin Chapter of ATD. I learned, laughed, and cried (not really) with some fine people. Now that I call Madison home, I felt that joining the Madison Area Chapter would provide the same opportunity. I have not been disappointed. I'm honored to have the opportunity to serve on the ATD-MAC Board and collaborate with a diverse group of people, to continue looking for ways to improve the learning process, and to meet chapter members with experience to share.

I've been involved in Construction Industry education for more than a decade. In 2012, Findorff & Son Inc. brought me on board as a Training Specialist to manage the training component of our learning and development program. With a learner pool of both office-based project management and field-based tradespeople, the natural dichotomy of learning styles that exists provides a unique challenge. Whether it's soft skills training, industry know-how, process-driven workflow, or technology-based instruction, every day is a new adventure. Working with great people makes it rewarding... and fun.

Erin Lavery, VP Marketing

Erin Lavery

I want to begin by thanking you all for allowing me to serve as VP of Marketing for ATD-MAC. I will never forget the first event I ever attended – I was amazed to be surrounded by so many people who shared my passion for development. I continue to look forward to each chance I have to connect and interact with you! My goal in this position is to spread the word about what we do, connect you to all the fantastic resources ATD and ATD-MAC have to offer, and create spaces for us to interact and grow together online.

I have spent the last 7 years in some type of training capacity – from department-level onboarding to supervising trainees all the way to my current position in Leadership Development. One of the things I enjoy most about talent development is our unique position to inspire people, help them achieve their goals, and increase their confidence. I get a lot of joy out of experimenting with different design, development, and delivery theories to help pull the learner to the center of the learning experience. Thank you in advance for all the ways that having the chance to interact and network with you will challenge me to be better and learn even better ways of doing this! I look forward to seeing you online.

Steve Caldwell, VP Membership

I am happy to serve as the VP of Membership.  My career path has taken many twists and turns over a 20+ year period.  Over the years I have worked in the Pharmaceutical and Medical Device industries as a microbiologist, an engineer, on multiple training and development projects, and finally as a quality assurance manager.  My focus over the years has been to solve problems stemming from technical and human factor aspects.  I enjoy solving problems, especially those problems that involve bringing together divergent groups of people towards a common cause.

Kevin Smith, VP Technology

Kevin Smith

I’m so happy to be part of ATD-MAC and am eager to do more. For the past two years, as Publisher/Consultant with TEAM Resources (a company of four people) I have been working from home. This new experience led me to get more involved with ATD-MAC and discover what a great support network and value it is. I hope to part of the growth and evolution of the chapter and the greater organization.

With TEAM Resources I spend my time writing for, advising and training primarily credit union board members and executive. Previous to TEAM Resources, I spend almost ten years with the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) as Director of Volunteer Education developing print, online, webinar, and face-to-face training resources for the credit union audience. I also spent some time teaching English at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
