Influencing without Authority

Influence has been described as, "The capacity or power of persons or thins to be a compelling force on or produce effects on the actions, behavior, opinions, etc., of others."

Can we learn to be influential?  Is influence a matter of personality, charisma or character? Or, is it a skill?  While personality and other behavioral factors may aid in our ability to influence others in our Learning & Organizational Development roles – the good news is, it is also a set of skills and a process that we can learn! Together, we will examine those skills and think about how to put them into practice them using a model of influence that you can apply to specific scenarios.  Come with your own situations or examples in mind so you can create an action plan to increase your influence in very specific and personalized ways.
